What is Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction?
MBSR is an invitation to stop and once again attend to your own experience. It consists of an 8-week course designed to help you meet the complexities of life with awareness and healing simplicity. You will learn how to be 'mindful' throught the day. Over the last 25 years, this approach has been developed and refined by Prof. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the MIT and the University Hospital of Massachusetts. Many people world-wide, living in a great variety of circumstance, have benefited from this MBSR.
A more holistic perspective on life demonstrates the fact that body, mind and emotions mutually interact and condition each other. The implementation of this knowledge has made MBSR become the cutting edge of successful intervention, whether in hospitals, local clinics or health centres.

Our lives are rich and diverse. Moments of ease and joy come and go, and so do moments of heaviness and sadness. How do you respond to these and to whatever comes up in your life? MBSR is a practical means for you, if you want to meet life with vital acceptance and full awareness. In addition, you will learn how to approach challenging circumstances, work or family overload, difficult decisions, loss and illness. Mindful attention as taught in MBSR, will show you how you can once again flow with life rather than against it, and how to balance being and doing in wakeful presence.
MBSR courses are built around a progressive series of themes, and offered in weekly sessions of 2.5 hours length. Each session will include group practice, some input and presentation, discussion of home work and support for your personal practice. In addition to the 8 sessions, a mindfulness day of 5 hours length is offered, usually after the 6th session.
To participate, you are asked to commit to a practice of about 40 minutes on 5 days every week. To support your practice you will receive CDs with led exercises. To further develop and deepen awareness, plenty short exercises are included in the course.
As part of the course package, I offer a non-binding consultation that is aimed to help you decide whether it would be sensible to you to do the course at this point in life.
